An integral part of Bayfield Energy's strategy is to give regards to the various environmental and social aspects of its operations so that it not only fully complies with all relevant legislation but also seeks to make a significant contribution to local communities.

Community
Our reputation as a responsible operator is important to us, and the needs of the local communities in which we operate are placed at the centre of our operations. Bayfield aims to work with local people to ensure that not only is their local environment treated with respect but that their quality of life is improved through the Company's activities.

As part of our extensive impact assessment, Bayfield works with local people to identify those areas in which we can best assist the community. Education, health and sport are the three areas of focus, and the implementation of community programmes is part of an open dialogue with communities that helps to foster long-term relationships.

In Trinidad and Tobago education has been our focus, and Bayfield provides assistance to young children in kindergarten.

As well as philanthropic activities, Bayfield aims to provide long term benefit to the community through maximising the economic benefits that they receive from the Company's operations. Over 75% of employees and contractors in Trinidad and Tobago are from the local area, and contracts are taken out with local companies where possible.

Environment
Bayfield aims to ensure that its operations do not harm the environment or affect the ecosystem in the areas in which it operates.

Prior to undertaking any drilling activity, extensive surveys are undertaken to identify, and assist in minimising, the key risks to the environment, and the workforce educated to ensure that awareness of the environment pervades the Company's operational approach.

The Galeota block is located in an area of environmental importance, and its well-being is of great importance to the local community and therefore also to Bayfield. Following a thorough ecosystem identification survey conducted in January and February 2011, a Comprehensive Environmental Management Plan has been put in place to ensure that the surrounding areas are not affected by the Company's activities.

As a responsible operator, it is also important for Bayfield to have a contingency plan in place should the extremely unlikely worst-case scenario occur. Prevention is better than cure, and all possible systems are in place to ensure that catastrophic events will not take place, but situation- specific exercises are held on a weekly basis to ensure all personnel are trained and ready for any contingency. Bayfield and the drilling contractor have a Tier 1 response capability on board as part of standard operating procedure, and mutual aid agreements with other operators ensure that if any spill occurs an appropriate response will be undertaken swiftly. A process is also in place so that international experts and equipment are in place within 24 hours.

Health and Safety
Bayfield has a zero harm goal, both in relation to the environment and its employees. The Company complies with all regulations and government guidelines, and aims at best practice industry standards.

A heavy emphasis is placed on the safety of the workforce. A comprehensive hazard evaluation programme is in place to identify and manage potential hazards, and all managers, supervisors, employees and contractors are properly trained and made aware of their HSE responsibilities.

All employees and contractors are also empowered with “stop work” authority to stop a job or activity if deemed unsafe.

Bayfield monitors its performance on a continuous basis, and through a constant dialogue ensures that the needs of the community and employees are always central to the Company's activities.
